Walking the East Side Gallery in Berlin, I felt sorry for what mankind had to go through so recently. And proud the Germans kept the Wall to never forget.
The Wall that divided Berlin in two, split the world in east and west, capitalistic and soviet. And was meant to be a symbol, the most powerful cold war tool. Its fall signaled the beginning of the end and brought the world together again. Almost 1,5 kilometers of it are still there. It stands proud as the East Side Gallery, the most important monument in Berlin for me. And a reminder for the world to not repeat the gruesome mistakes of the past. Here, Art speaks louder than words and wars.
